谢冕，1932年生，福建福州人，中国当代文学研究会副会长，中国作家协会全国委员会名誉委员，《诗探索》杂志主编。他建立了北京大学中国当代文学的第一个博士点。

谢冕早年就读于福州三一中学（现福州外国语学校）。1949年8月入伍，1955年考入北京大学中文系，1960年毕业，留校任教至今。现为北京大学教授，博士研究生导师，曾任北京大学中国语言文学研究所所长。北京大学诗歌中心成立后，谢冕被任命为该中心副主任，并就任北京大学中国新诗研究所所长，《新诗评论》主编，研究员。谢冕参与了北京大学中国当代文学的学科建设，在他的影响下，建立了北京大学中国当代文学的第一个博士点，他也就成为该校第一位指导当代文学的博士生导师。自1981年起至2000年止，先后有十余届硕士、博士及博士后在他的指导下毕业。

Xie Mian attended Fuzhou Sany Middle School (now Fuzhou Foreign Language School) in his early years. He joined the army in August 1949 and was admitted to the Chinese Department of Peking University in 1955. He graduated in 1960 and has been teaching at the university until now. He is now a professor of Peking University, a doctoral tutor, and former director of the Institute of Chinese Language and Literature of Peking University. After the establishment of Peking University Poetry Center, Xie Mian was appointed as the deputy director of the center, and served as director of Peking University China New Poetry Research Institute, editor-in-chief of "New Poetry Review", researcher.Xie Mian participated in the discipline construction of contemporary Chinese literature at Peking University. Under his influence, he established the first doctoral program of contemporary Chinese literature at Peking University. He became the first doctoral tutor of the school to direct contemporary literature. From 1981 to 2000, there have been more than ten masters, doctors and postdoctors who graduated under his guidance.
