Seven Sonnets of Raindrops on Bamboo
Leaves and Wind through Pine Woods
N0.1: Raindrops on Bamboo Leaves
On the soul's high slopes blow green bamboo leaves
Whose crystalline sounds are just like clouds in the blue sky
And pure body wriggles in the green waves of Azure Dragon River
On the long slopes before the old abode bloom lines of bamboos
The abundance of rain enables them to rise inch by inch above the hill
Emotions accompanied by sunlight flow in the long river of life
Snowflakes swiftly fall into the dense bamboo grove before the old abode
And by means of imagination fill it with flower baskets
And with their slim figures symbolize the vividness of their temperament
Black hair flows in the arms of the emerald bamboos
Glamorous hands let the villagers open their eyes
Lads and lasses walk into the summer of passions
Raindrops make their way onto the arched eyebrows of the woman
Who,with plump intelligence,is determined to bask in the autumnal water
N0.2: Wind through Pine Woods
Spring looks into the eternity with yearning
She beams on the red ground
Her charms wind their way in the spherical mountain
The pine tree in the rock has witnessed her loftiness
Her green leaves have seen her brilliance
The pine needles in the branches have beheld her exquisiteness
A pair of eyes have traversed the dust of time
Pine waves are the scenery in her mind
They are crowded with orange spirits
A fairy tiptoes to his side
And passionately calls him
Who is so joyful that he is unwilling to return to the Earth
They have mutual attachment and devotion during their lifetime
Sharing the substantial risk
N0.3: Musical Charms
An immortal came to the Earth at some unknown time
Flowers everywhere in the mountain were actually the ideological summit
A woman regarded nostalgia as her daily companion
Her left side moved with the clean waves of the tung oil trees
The breath from her right side blew shells near the East Sea
A lad is chanting in the landscape of the west of Sichuan Province
The saddening scene is the sand dune one thousand years ago
The melodious scene the pipa thousands miles away
The spotless ideal and the snowflakes in the Arctic Ocean
The Eighteen Beats of Hvjia by Cai Yan is far from its enthusiasm
The Yellow River Cantata by Xian Xinghai is far from its broadness
The Moon Over a Fountain by the blind Abing can't reflect its depresim
All that vibrates in the mind is the pure hymn
The eyes are full of the charms of autumn
N0.4: Tea and Cigarettes
One day for some reason I come to the mountain
The sunlight accompanies the stream water to the faraway west
The sun above the horizon is the flame in her inner mind
A lass dressed in colorful clouds comes to the foot of the mountain
Her bright eyes are flowing streams in the gullies
The whole world brims with the warmth of the human kind
She is virtually a mysterious fairy
Like a gust of spring wind she approaches
Like a spiral of black smoke she departs
In the landscape of the Orient grow clusters of tea plants
Those green leaves are soft emotions
The pure and aromatic ones are warm petals
A goddess accompanies the green mountain with her charms
A poet walks daily between the mountain and sea
N0.5: Moonlight over the Phoenix Tree
My stroll in the woods reminds me of Dongpo
Who's been held in high esteem for his brilliant poems
Whose remarkable talent and imagination pervade the universe
Please do not speak loudly under the phoenix tree
I never do so lest I disturb those in Heaven
And the clouds and mists in the sky cease surging
There should be so much coziness in the branches of the camphor tree
A sacred bird persistently offers an invitation to me
And secretely tells me to stay with you in Heaven
Wu Gang will no longer remain young or cut cinnamon trees
Nor will Chang'e utter any melancholy sounds
The colorful clouds in the leaves are symbols of emotion
The moon, with her fair figure,is going to chase herself
Not caring whether she might wake up the gods
N0.6: Sounds of Reading Books
A hail of sounds echo in the bamboo woods of the South
A thread of sounds flow in the spring rain of the East
A string of sounds form in the pine waves of the West
A gust of autumnal wind contains the green sounds
Sounds of reading books betoken cyan sounds
Pieces of clouds develop purple sounds
Morsels of tea leaves indicate red beauty
Rows of camphor trees show blue beauty
Lines of phoenix trees symbolize pink beauty
On broad western grasslands lies my mystery
Between the lines of Dongpo lingers my fascination
In Chang'e's imagination stays my breath
Should I believe that diligence is the only way to wisdom?
Should I maintain that handship is the sole route to knowledge?
N0.7: The Human World
With books,a man is a self-suficient kingdom
With sounds,a man is a fruitful world
With sounds of reading books, there is a world of mystery
With the phoenix tree,a person is a self-contained world
With the moon,a person has a pleasant companion
With moonlight over the phoenix tree, there is a supreme state of mind
With tea,a person can be a carefree god
With cigarettes,a person can have another world
With tea and cigarettes, there will be a paradise on the Earth
Where there are bamboos, there is a spirit
Where there is rain, there is a sentiment
When there are raindrops on bamboo leaves, there is a transcendental
state
Perhaps there is a shower of waves echoing away in the mind
Perchance there is a melodious rhythm ringing for life in the inner heart
